Conversations with Alicia Karl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Karl.

Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a certified Child Sleep Consultant from The Family Sleep Institute and a trained Good Night Sleep Site Educator. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Communication and Human Resource Management from Missouri State University. In addition, I have a certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution.

I have a passion for helping people find solutions that improve their life, health, and mental wellness. My education and experience provide a solid background and understanding of how to compassionately relate and support people through life challenges.

After having two children of my own, I understand the importance of sleep for the entire family. In fact, my passion for sleep grew out of my own family’s experience with sleep deprivation. At age three, my son experienced frequent night wakes. I had no idea what brought it on or how to resolve the issue. I reached out to a Family Sleep Institute graduate for guidance, which sparked a passion for all things sleep. I knew then, becoming a Sleep Consultant would be my next career move. I felt it was a good blend of my education, passion, and personal experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey to this point has had some ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change it. I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of.

I am a better person for each struggle, and I take each day as a learning opportunity. I love what I do and look forward to helping families “bring back bedtime”.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a Child Sleep Consultant at Good Night Sleep Site Alicia, I help families become better sleepers by addressing sleep struggles such as: short naps, fighting bedtime, night wakes, early morning waking, and so much more. I work with age ranges: newborn (up to four months), baby (4 to 12 months), toddler, and kid to teen.

Hiring a sleep consultant is worth the investment if you feel like you’ve tried everything, are too tired to figure it out on your own, or simply want professional guidance and support. That’s where I come in. It’s my mission is to educate, guide, and support families as they become a healthier, more rested family unit.

One of the key things that set Good Night Sleep Site Alicia apart is my education and training. I am fully certified through The Family Sleep Institute, an extensive 6-month certification program consisting of over 250+ hours of training that is recognized as one of the few in depth and extensive certifications in the Sleep Consulting industry.

What matters most to you?
It is my goal to not only help families get better sleep but to educate parents about sleep so they can become their own child’s sleep expert.

In order for them to be successful, this step is important! It helps parents have confidence in what they are doing. In my experience confidence will lead to success because parents will be more comfortable and stay consistent with their child’s sleep plan.
