Community Highlights: Meet Steven “Chance” Mock of Mock Home Inspection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Mock.

Hi Steven, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A little about my background is I started out as a laborer in high school. Got a degree in Construction Management. I started inspecting buildings in the private sector. I was the lead inspector for the Loews Hotel. I find the work interesting so I decided to start a company. Mock Home Inspections’ main goal is to make a difference. We help customers with the biggest purchase of their life. We use only the best home inspection software (spectora) and the best equipment. When you hire a Mock Home Inspector, you will get the best home inspector the city has to offer. You will get a visual inspection and a detailed report. It will take our certified Kansas City home inspector a significant amount of time to check every part of the property. We want to make sure nothing gets missed. We look for any existing or potential problems that must be dealt with.

During that time, they will take a significant amount of pictures and notes. Everything will be laid out clearly in the final report. We are trained to spot items that need repair. We also spot items that are on the brink of failure. Our service is sure to be informative and will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Call or text (816) 379-9878 to set up your inspection. Most recent review – Lisa Spencer, “My preferred inspector. Always on time or early. Convenient and timely scheduling. Thorough, knowledgeable and a good teacher. Same day reports and all-inclusive inspection services available.” I currently have a 5-star rating with 25 reviews on google. What I do is inspect the house inch by inch. I perform a general home inspection, termite inspection, radon inspection, mold inspection, and sub-out sewer inspection. My company offers the best value home inspection in the Kansas City Area.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I didn’t realize how many challenges there were when starting a company. I made a mistake by not developing a great product in the beginning. I learned by trial and error and I do not suggest that when owning a business. If you have a great product in the beginning, your company will launch because you are meeting all kinds of new people. I also wish I would have been more aggressive with software and trusting that I can get hits. Hits as in people using your services. The amount of hats that you have to learn is overwhelming. Operations and Inspections are two different things. The biggest thing I can say is to get a mentor and spend some money in the beginning.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Located in the greater Kansas City area, we value serving our clients and our obligation is to the buyer. At Mock Home Inspection, we offer an honest general report, radon detection, and a termite inspection. We also offer a 5-star report that allows you as the buyer the ability to negotiate before closing on your new home.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
According to Google, my top four qualities are responsive, value, punctual, quality. I always respond back within 5 minutes (one-man shop). My price and product are the best in the city, I have never been late to an inspection. The quality of my home inspection report is amazing.
