Community Highlights: Meet Lauren Veyette of Veyette Virtual Ballet School

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Veyette.

Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
In 2018 my husband, Francis, and I were contacted by a family wishing for more professional training for their daughter. After some discussion and advice, we began virtually training her remotely and Veyette Virtual Ballet School was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have had to make a lot of adjustments along the way. The pandemic ended up being a boost for our business. We were in a good place to meet the needs of the students stuck at home wishing to continue their training, but we had a lot of upgrading to do in a short amount of time. Also, I was pregnant with our first child, Lucy, and I needed to step away from the business for a while. We also needed to upgrade our billing, scheduling apparatus, and website. Adding group classes to the mix was also a big challenge. But thankfully we came through it all without too many hiccups. We couldn’t be more grateful for how everything turned out and know how lucky we are to have been able to be employed during the pandemic.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Veyette Virtual Ballet School?
Veyette Virtual Ballet School is an online ballet school specializing in private, one-on-one lessons. We also offer group classes, specialized career consultation, and mentorship. VVBS is world-class training regardless of your location.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Adding the group classes to our business was a bit of a risk. We had to commit to paying our teachers a certain number of hours in order to guarantee their time, and if enough people didn’t sign up for the group classes, we would’ve lost that money. But it was a measured risk and we were able to adjust as we went along as we are a small company. Taking those on at the time we did, when Lucy was a newborn, was challenging to say the least.

Pricing:
