Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Markey.
Jeff, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a facial plastic surgeon specializing in facial cosmetic surgery (rhinoplasty, face/necklift, eyelid surgery, otoplasty). I grew up near Oak Park Mall, I went to St. Thomas Aquinas. Later on I moved to San Francisco for head and neck surgical training at a hospital called UCSF. I loved the creative aspect of plastic surgery, rejuvenating the anatomy, restoring the anatomy after injuries or cancer, and other surgeries. I loved motivated, healthy patients looking for rejuvenation or restoration. So I moved to Portland, OR and completed a facial plastic surgery fellowship at OHSU. I then practiced at NYU Medical Center in Manhattan, NY for a few years as an assistant professor before moving home to KC. My wife, Ellie and I moved because we found out we were having a daughter and wanted to be close to family – now we have 3 daughters!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not! First – I didn’t know what to do with my life. I worked construction, studied architecture and graphic design, and eventually chose the path I’m on now. Love it – no regrets. But moving back to Kansas City and starting a new practice has been a challenge and a joy. I’m meeting new people all the time, marketing my results, networking within our wonderful community.
We’ve been impressed with Jeff Markey MD FACS, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a cosmetic facial plastic surgeon practicing in Leawood, KS. I perform rhinoplasty, face and neck lifts, eyelid surgery, rejuvenation surgery of the face and neck. We also perform many non-surgical procedures – laser resurfacing, photofacials, botox/facial filler injections, skincare, and more. Out of everything my team and I do, I’d say we’re most proud of our aesthetic results (we take a lot of pride in this) and the way we treat our patients. My team especially are the kindest, most down-to-earth nurses and medical assistants in the city. I’m lucky to have them and so are our patients! Brand-wise I think its clear that we take the relationship with our patients seriously – every stitch is placed carefully and with a lot of forethought – and same goes with patients that visit our MedSpa.
