Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelley Rundberg.
Hi Shelley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started training as a floral designer in 1989 in an upscale shop in Dallas, Texas. I started at the bottom from processing flowers to watering plants, I had to achieve a skillset and be perfect before moving on to bigger designs. In my youth, my grandmother grew EVERYTHING and had gardens beyond your basic flowers. My Mother had an amazing sense of style, my father was a craftsman and was described in Dallas as an artist of wood.
Our home was decorated incredibly in thrift store finds that you would have thought my parents hired a professional decorator.
I worked my way up and fell in love with wedding work, I find such in inspiration in every wedding, my design truly is inspired by my couples personality and style.
It is an honor to be a part of such a wonderful day!
To paint a daydream with floral, as most Brides have been dreaming of this day since they were young girls.
Floral sets the mood for the day from whimsical to romantic to everything in between.
I started Couture Wedding Flowers in 2017 with just a few references as a side business and a dream to give clients a different approach to their wedding flowers, it quickly grew into a full-blown business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a wonderful journey, even after the years of working in the floral business, I am still learning new design skills. And the wedding vendor community is amazing in Kansas City I have a true passion for what I do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create wedding floral visions. The bridal bouquet is the most important part of the wedding floral, when you see photos of your grandparent’s wedding, the bridal bouquet is always front and center.
It should be everything you are dreaming of.
I am proud of my family.
They are my biggest cheerleaders and always there to help.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family is everything. My daughter flies in to help with larger weddings as well as my son.
My brother works with me on almost every wedding.
It is important that we remain a small family business, which means we do get completely booked.
but I prefer to know my clients on a personal level even if we can not take on every wedding.
