Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Revelle. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The Body Mechanic LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist) is a small massage business accredited by the Better Business Bureau of Kansas City. The business is owned and operated by Jessica Revelle. Jessica graduated from the Massage Therapy Training Institute (MTTI) in 2008 and also has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Baker University (2005). She is a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and certified by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. Over the past 14 years, she has completed certifications in sports and medical massage techniques and manual lymph drainage (MLD) and is currently studying neuromuscular massage (PNMT). I have also become certified in SportStretch® this past year. Allow me to get personal, and give you a better insight into my personality and massage style. As a person, my hobbies are running, yoga, Pilates, nutrition, and cooking, continuing my education, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also a bit of a free spirit (that is the Pisces in me) and believe we should all find peace and happiness from within and do what makes our soul shine in life! As a massage therapist, my passion is working with athletes and active people of all levels and ages, and assisting them in improving their bodies and/or working towards their competition goals. I have expertise in stress reduction, pain relief, body mechanics, deep tissue, sports massage, lymphatic drainage, neuromuscular therapies, and pregnancy massage. My main focus is ensuring my clients are at ease and are receiving quality therapy to improve their overall health.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, I have been blessed for most of my career. I started practicing in San Diego with an acupuncturist, moved back to KC, and worked for a chiropractor for over 8yrs, then started my LLC and have rented space in a Pilates studio for the past 4 years. I have had the opportunity to work alongside some amazing individuals who are leaders in their industries. I have learned a lot regarding the body and business from all of them. I truly believe we all have a path, and I’m making the best of mine along the way!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My passion is working with athletes, or active people, of all ages and levels. I love this for the challenge…and honesty the teamwork. I want to work with people who help ME help THEM. I like to make progress with my clients, so we have to work together to make that happen. Them trusting me is the most important! So, my main focus is always the therapist/client relationship. But I am an anatomy geek at heart and love understanding the body. With athletes, the challenge is studying each individual. No body is the same. We all move differently and we all have different body mechanics. I study my clients to understand how THEY move. Each wide receiver moves differently. Each pitcher has its own warm-up routine. It’s all in the details, and that is my focus. I feel like that sets me apart from other massage therapists. Each session with me could be different. We may use different tools (cupping, muscle scraping, etc.) one session and the next we may just do myofascial stretching and lymphatic work. It’s whatever the client’s body needs that day.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I LOVE KC! Simply stated. I love the food, sports, arts, and the mentality of the people. We are a big, small-town vibe. For business it’s wonderful…everyone knows everyone. For dating, well that’s another story! Haha
