Today we’d like to introduce you to HJ McNeely.
MW Shrinky Charms started in 2020 during the Covid pandemic by sisters HJ (age 11) and Ashley (age 15). The sisters work together to create the charms and donate half of their earnings to charities such as the BLM movement, Autism Awareness, National Suicide Awareness, and Trevor Project.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With the help of their parents, the sisters are able to work together to create different charms and raise donations for many charities. The main struggle the sisters face is learning how to market their business and appeal to different consumers. With the help of their parents, the sisters have learned how to manage their business and create a brand.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ashley enjoys creating artwork through drawings and has been drawing since age four.
HJ enjoys creating art through photography, digital design, and drawing on canvas.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The sisters enjoy all the many sites throughout KC and especially enjoy the Rivermarket in downtown.
The sisters do wish that more people supported small businesses.
