Check Out Dawnna and Jon Morris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawnna and Jon Morris.

Hi Dawnna and Jon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Happy Feet Socks began three years ago. The building was once the town grocery store and has been in a bit of disrepair. Once we purchased the building, we wanted to continue to add businesses that had unique offerings to go along with the Toy and Christmas store we own and make coming to cole camp a great shopping outing. Socks are so popular across so many demographics and, well let’s be honest they are fun, so the store was born.

Back in Time Toys opened in 2103, our first store in Cole Camp. The building was a woodworking shop before us. It has vintage toys and new lines that look like the old toys. Jon has an excellent memory for date and names. The vintage toys are what he enjoys looking for. He has been in basements, attics, auctions, and estate sales looking for the good vintage toys. This store has done so well we decided to open one in Branson, at the Grand Village. My sister and brother-in-law run that store. They are kids at heart so it is a great fit. Cole Camp store does have an eBay shop too. It is so wonderful to listen to the stories of childhood memories when people come in.

Because Jon goes looking the toys, he would run across so Christmas pieces too. That’s when we decided to open A Cole Camp Christmas store, in 2015. It was originally the mercantile we even have one of the display pieces for then. Our favorite thing to do is help customers find that special ornament for family and friends. We have a huge selection of ornaments and tabletop decor. We are opened from March to December. We have items for other holidays too.

These stores would not operate so great without the wonder staff family we have. They know they can tell us anything and we listen to them because they are invested as if the stores are theirs too. They are the ones that know what the customer is requesting. They are the backbone to our success!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been fantastic. We have benefitted by our customers spreading the word through social media. With socks being such a visual item having so many pictures posted on various social media outlets have really driven the success. The only setback was during the covid shutdown but that pushed us to create an online store which has also been successful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Being an artsy and creative person I have tried to always make all of the businesses a place that creates fun memories and take you back to happy times. We are known for offering items you can’t find anywhere else and are proud that we see so many smiles and hear stories from the past related to our stores

Any big plans?
We will be adding a new business called What Ya Cookin’? in 2022 which will offer unique kitchen and cooking-related items.
