Check Out Amber Bolton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Bolton.

Hi Amber, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story began the last year of college and my boyfriend at the time broke up with me. Of course, I went to school and had a part-time job, but I didn’t really have any hobbies. I remember browsing online and coming across an inline skater. He looked so cool doing his skate tricks, and that compelled me to start rollerskating.

I already had experience skating since I went to the rinks when I was younger, but it was nothing compared to what I do now. Once I think about it, I’ve been skating for 5 years and it has definitely become a huge staple in my life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning, skating was just a hobby for me, so I didn’t take it seriously for the first few years. Once rollerskating blew up last year, a lot of opportunities started coming around on social media, however, it was stressful.

Trying to post content on a daily basis can definitely take a toll and also seeing your original idea/content being reused for others’ personal gain can be upsetting. At this moment, I’m focusing on creating a roller-skate business without a huge dependence on social media gigs.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At this moment, I do live a creative lifestyle as a social media influencer. I’m currently providing skate lessons and skate workshops at this moment. Hosting and coordinating roller skate events and parties, such as Hotel Le Skate is slowly becoming a thing for me too.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
To be honest, rollerskating is trendy right now, but I can see it being normalized like skateboarding. Everything that is currently happening in the skateboard community, will be the same for the rollerskating community in the next few years.
