Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrett Armfield.
Hi Garrett, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am a UFC fighter; I started in Springfield, MO, competing on the local scene at small amateur events. I lived in Springfield from 2016-2019. After that, I moved to South Florida for 4 years. While there, I trained at Killcliff FC, a nationally known MMA gym home to some of the most popular fighters in the world. After being there for 4 years, I wanted to go to a smaller, more close-knit gym. I relocated to KC and found a home at Marathon MMA in Overland Park, Kansas. UFC fighter Trey Ogden runs it, and is home to UFC fighters Mike Breedan and Miles Johns. I just came off an international win in Singapore, where I secured a first-round knockout. We are headed to Toronto, Canada, for the next event on January 20th.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a chsmoothd. Due to injuries, losses, and starting over at a new gym in Kansas, this sport and my journey to the UFC were more difficult than I could have imagined. I had many sleepless nights before getting to the UFC due to having to work 40 hours a week and train twice daily, Monday through Saturday. However, it is worth the grind and hustle.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Kansas City is a great city on the rise. I love the Midwest hospitality and the low cost of living. KC is a lively city with new businesses popping up every week. I plan to stay in KC for the rest of my life.
