Today we’d like to introduce you to Petty Murphy.
Hi, Petty. Can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to hear more about how you got to where you are today.
I am a standup comedian, host of The Petty Murphy Project Podcast, and Actor. I have been doing entertainment for 14+ years, which stole my youth. But I have gotten to where I am by having a solid work ethic and determination to not only help myself but help others as well grow in their purpose in life.
Has it been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No journey to the top of a smooth road; you’re going to go through peaks and valleys, trials and tribulations, and it’s going to test your mental health, and it has tested mine this year with the death of my brother Kurel, who was murdered in Wichita, KS June 28th. He was only 30 years old, and being the oldest of 9 children, Losing a sibling was one of my worst nightmares in life, and when it happened, it broke me completely. Still, as time has gone along since, I have been able to slowly get back to the grind because nothing is normal at all. However, I have been able to understand and embrace grief because I know my brother is still with me in spirit and my heart, and he wouldn’t want me to stop what I worked so hard for, so I have done all of this and become a bigger advocate for Mental Health Awareness.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Comedy podcasting, hosting, and acting.; I’m proud that the good Lord has blessed me with opportunities to showcase my talents. Nothing sets me apart from others because we’re all here running the same race. So I am not better than the next man or woman. I do me. I expect the same respect given to me as I would give to anyone else because I support the ambitions of people who want to change the culture like me.
