Rising Stars: Meet Hugo Nava

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hugo Nava.

Hugo Nava

Hi Hugo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started when I was a child. I went to family parties, saw photographers doing their work, and told myself that I would love to do that when I was older. I was born in Venezuela, and living there, unfortunately, I did it. I didn’t have the resources to buy a camera, and my family couldn’t help me either. When I got older, I started taking photos of my best friends and watching many tutorials on YouTube, and well, I needed to emigrate on my own. And it was not easy, but little by little, I am progressing and achieving my dreams. One of those dreams has already come true: buying a professional camera. Little by little, I have been learning how to use it and buy the instruments to have a professional studio.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are always setbacks along the way, but that makes you learn, good or bad; everything is an experience and learning. One of the biggest struggles was needing more resources to buy a camera and the instruments for a photographic studio.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work in my free time doing studio or urban photo sessions. I am very good at what I do, and the best thing is that I do it with a lot of love and concentration; I like people to be satisfied with my work in photography. I specialize in photo editing and feel proud of myself because this job is not easy, but I love doing it. Each photographer has their style, which makes it special, and there is always a field of work for everyone.

What were you like growing up?
When I was little, I was very studious and well-behaved, and I always liked going to school and making friends, and I love photography.
