Rising Stars: Meet Aubrey Zechariah of Saint Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Zechariah.

Aubrey Zechariah

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I started when I was 9 years old. My parents got me a ukulele for my birthday. I learned how to play by watching videos and figuring out chord shapes. Since then, I’ve performed as a wild west whip cracker/gun spinner, played solo shows on ukulele/guitar, played with bands, and have had the privilege to work with some cool cats.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My first time in the studio was terrible. The first live show was terrible; breaking away from my old band to do my own thing was hard, but I learned a lot from those experiences. I had to learn to do production all on my own; this included writing, recording all the parts myself, mixing, etc.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My main thing is music. I specialize in anything music and have recently been learning to mix my tracks properly. I’m not very known at all, but the people who know me would say fun little ukulele songs. I’m most proud of the many skills I have accumulated; I play many instruments and handle everything on the production side of my music and music videos. Nothing sets me apart from anyone else; we live in a modern age where everyone can easily do what I do. But for real, the whip-cracking thing, people think it’s neat.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Creativity in making a unique piece of art that resonates with others
