Hidden Gems: Meet Nnanna Okpara of Festive ICT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nnanna Okpara.

Hi Nnanna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Nigeria. I came to the US for college in the year 2000. I started at Wichita State University and finished up at Kent State University. While in Kent, I worked for the Kent State Athletic Marketing Department and also for the group sales department of the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA franchise. I gained tremendous event production, management, and marketing experience from those 2 opportunities. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and eventually moved back to Wichita. I always knew Wichita had the potential to be a great city if the right people were involved in its development. I started producing events because there was an opportunity to create unique and entertaining experiences within the Wichita Market. I started organizing club parties and eventually local live music events to now large events and festivals. I stuck with it and never gave up. I followed my dreams, believed in my ideas, and bet on myself. Today by the grace of GOD, I am fortunate to have created and currently operating one of the top event production companies in Kansas and the Midwest.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a challenging road. We’re still learning and getting better year after year. Growing pains are a part of business; they never stop showing up. But with perseverance, patience, and experience, you learn to deal with the challenges. Some of the Struggles we had to overcome have included funding for events, building the right team, establishing necessary relationships, and creating awareness about our events.

Festive ICT is a top-tier event production company based in Wichita, KS. Our company aims to create lifetime memories and joyful experiences by putting on exciting events in our local communities. We produce and organize a diverse array of events. Our events include food festivals, markets, sporting events, and more. Our biggest event is Wichita Taco Fest—an exhilarating Taco Festival that draws thousands of attendees yearly. Our second largest event is Shop & Grub. An outdoor monthly market with many local merchants and food vendors. The ethos of our company is based on the fact that we are willing to go the extra mile. We take pride in our work ethic, creativity, professionalism, and ability to effectively market and promote our events. We’re constantly implementing customer feedback to create the ultimate experience for our attendees. What do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in the grace and mercy of GOD, planning, preparation, perseverance, execution, failing forward fast, and going the extra mile when others won’t. These things have allowed me to create and sustain my business.
