Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly DeBurger.
Hi Beverly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Well, I first started experimenting with polymer clay in college. I went to JCCC, and I briefly took ceramics and loved it! I have always loved artsy things and people. At first, I started with small sculptures, such as Studio Ghibli characters, and eventually discovered that I enjoy making things that people can use or wear.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing worth doing is ever going to be easy. My grandmother told me that if you choose to take the road less traveled or do something you truly enjoy or love, you’ll never work harder; boy was she right? Getting this business up and running has been a labor of love. I’m still so small, but my heart feels complete with all the love and support surrounding me. I suffer from chronic pain, and some days are a struggle to get out of bed, but the support system surrounding me lifts me and makes it all worthwhile, and I couldn’t be more grateful for each of them! It takes a village!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Polymer clay! It sounds like something you wouldn’t use to make jewelry, but it has become my favorite medium to work in. It is so versatile and flexible. I’m also a painter and love to do just about anything related to art! I am so proud of how far I’ve come as an artist; that’s exactly what I would define myself as. It has truly been a lifelong dream to say that I’m not only an artist but an artist working her butt off to make this a full-time career. The thing that I am most proud of is my children. I have three wonderful kids and couldn’t feel more blessed to be their mother.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
If you work hard enough, you can make your luck. I do believe in karma and that what goes around comes around. If you put your heart and soul into what you do and the people you love, you will be surprised by what you receive in return!
