Community Highlights: Meet Amber Dent of Cross Your T’s Real Estate Administration

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Dent.

Amber Dent

Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts like a lot of others. I graduated college with a general degree, still trying to determine my purpose. I kept focusing on career paths when I should have just honed in on my strengths. I am organized, systematic, creative, and motivated. Once I realized my specific strengths, I began to sink into roles where I could play with them more. I dipped my toes in the healthcare administration world as an office manager, administrative assistant, optician, and site coordinator. Then I gained experience in retail as a purchasing assistant before starting my family and moving to work from home. I will say that never in a million years did I think I would land in Real Estate. Yet here I am! In 2020, right when the pandemic hit, I was persuaded by my aunt to obtain my Missouri Real Estate license. She said she saw my potential and needed me to help organize her real estate business. I began work as her Director of Operations. I watched and learned as we navigated the shifting markets. It turns out; Real Estate Administration is my jam! After my third little girl was born, I started my own business. Nowadays, I help real estate agents across the country by taking over the day-to-day tasks that primarily consume their time. I call it Cross Your T’s Real Estate Administration.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growth is always challenging, and I welcome the challenges of building a business from the ground up. I’ve had a great role model in my aunt, who has shown me an organic and meaningful way of obtaining and treating clients. This method, however, takes time and building trust. After 18 months, I have a slow and steady trickle of leads coming in. Most of my leads are now coming from referrals instead of *darn near begging* on social media. Outside the actual growth of my business, my biggest struggle has been finding a balance between my home life and my professional one. I have this fiery motivation inside me that wants to push limits constantly. I could scale this business through the glass ceiling and beyond if I wanted to. I love my job. However, I have a greater love for my family. I have three young daughters that I get to work from home with. I am here for the littlest moments, all the good and all the bad. The biggest reason I started Cross Your T’s was to have the freedom and flexibility to experience those moments. I will likely never find the perfect balance between being a mom and a businesswoman, though I try every day.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Under Cross Your T’s, I specialize in detoxing your digital world (think email and folders on the cloud). I create systems to help organize the chaos that will creep up when juggling clients. I manage your CRM, calendar, and task/project management systems. Thanks to my healthcare experience, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism comes second nature. I’ve got a creative side too. You can count on me to use my Canva design skills and create beautiful business cards, aesthetic social media posts, and any other literature you can imagine. My style is minimalistic, clean, and airy.
