Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Borst.
Hi Bridget, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Photography for me started as a hobby back in Late 2020. My brother had been doing it for quite some time, and I had always loved going with him when he would take pictures and even help if I could. Soon as he moved out and left for the seminary to become a priest, leaving his camera behind, I knew I wanted to become a photographer just like he was. I loved to experiment with all the different genres of photography, from products to portraits and even astrophotography. My biggest influencer, as I was learning photography, was not only a photographer but a filmmaker as well, Niklas Christl. And wanting to follow in his footsteps, I soon picked up a drone and began to learn the art of filmmaking. For some time, it was all just a hobby for me, but I soon realized that I could create a business doing what I love the most and share that with others and tell their story through my lens.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It was a huge learning curve beginning this journey, and being a photographer for just over a year now and slowly getting into videography, I still have a lot yet to learn, which only makes the journey more exciting. It has certainly not been the smoothest road, and there have been many challenges, whether taking up a project I’ve never attempted before or finding my creative style. Each new project I take up offers a different challenge. When I filmed my first cinematic car video, I was afraid I couldn’t film and produce the quality content the client was asking for, as this was the first time I had done something quite like it. But I realized confidence goes a long way as a creative, and sometimes you have to believe in yourself more than others believe in you.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bridget Marie Photography?
I have a wide range of interests and enjoy photographing anything that catches my eye. I specialize in portrait photography and offer drone and video services. Whether capturing the littlest moments through my lens or telling compelling stories in a cinematic video, “Tell me your story. I’ll design it.” What sets me apart from others is my unique editing style and ability to capture the littlest details that others would otherwise miss artfully. I like to utilize the sun to create warm golden portraits illuminating my subjects, giving the pictures a gentle, cinematic feel. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine I’ve come this far; looking back, I never would have thought I’d be running a business doing what I love the most. But with hard work and perseverance, nothing is impossible, especially when chasing our dreams.
What matters most to you?
Of course, God and my family will always come first, and if it weren’t for either, I wouldn’t be here today. Anyone can start up a business by themselves. Still, the help and encouragement of my family made the journey all that easier and even more exciting, knowing they’re with me and there to help me make a living out of something I’m so passionate about. My brothers and sister were especially helpful, as they were always ready to model in front of the camera. It was by photographing them that I learned to love portrait photography, and it helped me constantly improve. Photography is what matters most to me, to create something that I love and can also give to others and share with every client I meet. Everyone chooses some path or career in life, usually a trade of some sort, something they can make a living off, and as I’ve always loved to be creative, photography could be that career choice for me.
Regarding photography, the most important thing is to be able to tell a story; how we say that story is up to each photographer and their unique style. Every picture tells a story, and whether it’s just a photograph or even a cinematic film, the story behind it, the story we’re able to portray to the viewer, is just as important as the content itself. Otherwise, what’s a movie if it doesn’t have a plot line? I love to be able to tell a story through each photograph and film I make and to be able to share that with everyone else.
