Daily Inspiration: Meet Stacey Shumate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Shumate.

Hi Stacey; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I love natural body products. I always wanted to own a boutique. I wanted to share these organic and natural products with my friends but didn’t want to resell someone else’s products. I did some research, talked to several people in the handmade body product business, and then decided to make my own products. I initially sold my products at a women’s conference and did very well. Over time my business grew.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I currently work full-time. Sometimes I wish I had more time to concentrate on my business.

My name is Stacey. I’m the owner of Stacey’s Stuff. I make natural body products. My signature product is whipped shea butter. I’m very proud that so many people enjoy my products. What sets me and my products apart is that I don’t want to use harmful ingredients.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
My advice for those just starting out is to find a mentor and take as much training as possible. It will help prevent you from going down the wrong path. I wish you had created fewer products and various scents when I started. It became overwhelming quickly.
