Life & Work with Tiffany Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Walker.

Hi Tiffany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I will start by telling you photography gives life, not just a little, but a lot of life. Photography allows my dreams to go above and beyond what I could imagine; it provides peace, love, and hope that I want to share as much as possible through my lens. I hope to help others live out their dreams and peace through my desire to have pictures for my birthday, and for some unknown reason, my creative mind convinced me that I could take my photos. It sounded so exciting to create a photoshoot concept and bring it to life. So I did it. I purchased my camera and got to work; I was my first client and model. I had a photoshoot with myself and enjoyed it, Yes, it was work involved, but it felt so natural as if I was meant to do it my entire life. I looked back one day on my earlier years of life and realized I have always been big into pictures and filming, I would usually always own some camera or camcorder, and I even worked at Jcpennys portrait (which was boring). The thought never occurred that I should or could be an actual photographer. I only knew real people who were photographers. It’s like this was meant for me, and besides, I have always loved all things ART, So here I am, the Founder of Bfree photography. In the current day, I look to photograph people to tell their individual stories in life, capturing those rare moments that are usually not captured. I look for exclusive times and moments of life to save for you. Most importantly, Bfree photography would also like to provide those who need an outlet to help express themselves and use a photoshoot as a form of therapy. As a mental health advocate, I want to use art to promote healthy and free minds.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
This road to photography could have been smoother and rough, just a good mixture. At times smothered because I felt at home and mentally free with the camera in my hand; not so smooth of a road because I had to find the time and money to invest into myself and Bfree, which was new and scary to my daily busy life plus my mom budget and this is still a work in progress, but I am making it happen and have received some great and supportive people in my life. Some can’t believe or see my dream or see how hard I have worked to build Bfree, and although others aren’t supposed to see or live your dream because it is your dream, it still can be tough to deal with the lack of support or negative remarks, but also necessary to help grow. My youngest child “King” was given an autism diagnosis six years ago and is now eight. Anyone who knows King loves him and his big personality and smile. This can be rough and overwhelming because you never know what’s next for King. Still, there are daily challenges and a lack of resources for the autistic community, so I am always searching for more resources and trying to give him the same opportunities and happiness as everyone else. I want to continue learning and growing as much as possible through photography and life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
To keep it short and simple. I am a proud mental health advocate, artist, and photographer. I specialize in exclusive moments, behind the scene photos, and anything storytelling that a client wants to express in a shoot. I am proud to be the photographer and model of my photo shoots and plan to continue to expand on them. Also, be on the lookout for the non-profit organization that I am working on. The organization seeks to help promote support for those trying to achieve business goals and mental health care in Kansas City, MO.

Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
I feel lucky to tap into something that has been deep in my heart for a long time and lucky to have a great photographer/advisor/mentor and someone I consider a friend who believes in me and always speaks positivity into me. I also know that no luck is needed when something is meant for you. I have yet to see my real luck, but it is coming to me when the time is right. I am lucky to have a great family.
