Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Hill.

Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started my career in the service industry and loved it. But I knew that I wanted to do more. I took a leap and decided to attend cosmetology school. After that, I even dabbled in law. Finally, I switched to the healthcare field and found a long-time home. I have always been passionate about people and solving their problems. Eventually, my career landed me in the Operating Room as an Anesthesia Tech. Each of these was an amazing experience. One day, out of the blue, a friend of mine posted on social media that he was looking for a truck driver recruiter. At that point, I was getting a little burnt out at the hospital in the midst of COVID outbreaks (and the position was remote!) I interviewed with his team of four, starting a start-up the right way. Later that day, I accepted the offer. I was able to quickly climb the recruiting ladder to be the top performer. Now, I represent Fusion Now at industry conferences and am the acting Sales Manager. I pride myself in always learning, so this is not the end!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not all professional careers are smooth sailing ahead! My personal growth still includes working through self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Currently, Fusion Now is primarily focused on the trucking industry; this is a space dominated by men. There are women who are successful here, but they’ve given their lives work to get where they are. I’ve realized that it is crucial to talk about your achievements and be loudly proud of how far I’ve come.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Sales Manager at Fusion Now. To me, this simply means I am a Relationship Builder. Fusion Now is a full-service, customizable marketing and recruiting firm based out of Kansas City. Of course, we pride ourselves on having a multi-talented team, but our clients care more for our transparency! My biggest accomplishment thus far is being a top recruiter while I was on the recruiting team. I think what sets me apart from others is my desire to help people. Even if Fusion Now cannot help a business, I still want to help find someone that can!

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
I do not consider myself a risk-taker. Honestly, I wish I had taken more risks. When I was 24, like many, I was stuck in a rut. I worked 2 jobs and decided I needed a change. I had always enjoyed visiting Kansas City; my aunt had an extra room nearby and said I could stay with her if I wanted. After a few days of contemplation, I put in my two weeks, and my dad moved me up to the big city! I didn’t have a job in mind, just a room and a hunger for something new. My latest risk was moving to Fusion from the hospital that I had worked with for four years into an industry I’d never thought of before. In hindsight, each of these was a great decision.
