Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Yates.
Hi Nicole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up, I told myself I would never get into the apartment business. I was pretty set and stubborn on this until one day, like a light switch, I decided to come back from Florida (where I attended college) and start working for the same company as my mother. They seemed to be doing big things here in Kansas City, and I certainly wanted to play a part in it. I worked for my previous employer for 7 years and assisted with 12 new construction/lease-ups. No better time than during a pandemic to leave a stable, flexible, and good-paying job.
August 1st of, 2021 was my first day as a business owner; since then, I haven’t had a chance to look back. We are a women-owned business, Denise Yates (my mother) and I in the multifamily industry. We have a unique story that takes adverse circumstances and turns them into positive results. Offering anything from design, development, marketing, and management in class A projects/communities. In our first year of business, we have been referral-only and continue to grow strategic partnerships with a lot of great individuals and organizations. We currently oversee/manage 1079 units and have 1874 units in development/construction.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would be lying if I said it’s been easy. However, I can confidently say it has certainly been worth it and rewarding. We’ve delt with people who were not happy about us stepping out on our own, which was a difficult obstacle for us. Not to mention all the tasks most people don’t boast about, like setting up insurance, benefits, 401K, etc.. Let’s not forget the importance of preforming for our clients and partners.

As mentioned, we are a women’s owned business that offers consulting services for development and operations of multifamily. We are also an asset and property management company that provides many services under that umbrella. We pride ourselves on being team players, with core values including passion, integrity, transparency, and respect.
