Today we’d like to introduce you to J R Lyle.
Hi J R, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Expression in the form of art and the vastness it encompasses runs through generations. It laces many fond memories. I have always been drawn to art. When it comes to words, they absolutely fascinate me. The way that you can sequentially string them together to mean so many different things is captivating. This writing journey was actually a long time coming.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. “Pen to the page” is one of my favorite phrases, and this is how you will often find me, sitting somewhere with my pen. I just finally gave myself permission to be, to share, and to do. I believe it was grace that in turn surrounded me with a circle of support that helped me find, acknowledge, and focus on the reasons to say yes.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Like most journeys there can be obstacles, hard lessons learned, tears of joy, confusion, and pain. Mine is no different. Not knowing all the answers, how to do all the things, or being able to control all the pieces was the biggest struggle for me.
It’s been a roller coaster of emotions, uncertainties, learning, growth, reward, and so much more. There’s something about this journey of permission that just resonates in my spirit every single day. I must say, I count it all joy!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an author/artist/creative among many other “titles” we assign ourselves or are assigned by other societal structures. Some such titles include being a mom, who happens to be part of a field that cares for others, and a creator of hand-crafted jewelry and decor. I am known for my caring spirit and creative disposition. I am hopeful that my sequencing of words speaks to even one person, and that my creative expression in jewelry and decor brings someone joy.
In response to being proud, there are many accomplishments on which I often reflect. However, there is no doubt that I am most proud of my kiddos. They effortlessly ground and inspire me all at the same time. Now, finding the gumption to go on this publishing journey, and share my creative joys with the world I would consider a close second.
As for what sets me apart… Well, I’ll just say, to set apart, on some level insinuates a comparison must be made. I offer no comparison, but rather perspective. We are all unique in our own way, and thereby we are naturally “set apart” from one another. There is only one me, and only one you. Without question, we are each enough!
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Success has such an individualized definition in my opinion. My definition of success is very closely tied to my gage of happiness. Taking a conscientious, consistent, dedicated approach to the journey of possibilities found by having an open mind and heart is key to my success.
