Conversations with Jennifer Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Robinson.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Jennifer moved to the US in 2007. She was born and raised in Oberhaid, Germany. Jennifer always enjoyed baking and being in the kitchen with her grandma and the rest of the family. Jennifer graduated from College in 2015 with a BS in Public Relations. In 2016 a coworker suggested not to give away all my treats but sell them instead. In March 2016, Jennifer started Bona Fide Cakes out of her home. Jennifer always worked her bakery part-time while chasing the “big girl jobs.” Their long-term goal was to have their bakery, but they never imagined it to be as soon as it happened. After working on a vintage camper to become a “bakery camper,” Jennifer had the opportunity to rent a building on the Harrisonville Historic Square – a location and building Jennifer has always imagined. In April 2022, Bona Fide Bakery & Café was born. Jennifer was finally able to open her storefront on August 3, 2022.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Jennifer had few obstacles. She’s been blessed with a great support system; however, it would be financed if she had to pick one major challenge. Starting up a storefront is much more expensive than having a kitchen in the basement and going to farmers’ markets.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Jennifer and her team create and bake beautiful, mostly European treats. You can find anything from a classic Cinnamon Roll with Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting at Bona Fide Bakery to Oma’s Beesting Cake, French Macarons, and Gourmet Truffles.

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happy. I am an adventure lover. I feel my soul needs travel and deep worldly conversations to be satisfied. My Church Family Also makes me happy! Last but not least, my family. My mama is my rock. I am a wife – been with my husband for 12 years, and I am a mama to an incredibly kind, caring, and an adorable 4-year-old boy.
