Community Highlights: Meet Sid Kile of SK Security

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sid Kile.

Hi Sid, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a Police Officer and following a law enforcement career path. I was 19 when I began training as a dispatcher with the Grandview Police Department. I made it to my second tier of training when I had a revelation. I felt I could make a much bigger difference in the community if I did something independently. I stopped my training that same day and founded SK Security. We started with one car and two officers and grew to where we are today. We currently have almost 70 officers in the SK family today, and we’re still growing strong.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey of growing my business has been a very rocky road. There was a time when SK Security cost more money than it made. One of the difficulties, when you start a contract with a large corporation, you cannot expect to be paid for at least 30 to 60 days. It can take thousands of dollars of labor each week to staff those contracts, and those employees still need to be paid. I used to work 24, sometimes 30 hours back-to-back to ensure clients were satisfied. I would also work 80 to 90 hours as a locksmith in addition to SK Security to make sure my employees were paid on time.

As you know, we’re big fans of S.K. Security. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in giving the best security services in the greater Kansas City Metro Area. We have the mentality of giving a customer service-oriented approach no matter the job. Security, we believe in supporting the community. We have demonstrated that support by participating in; Back 2 School programs, Breast Cancer Awareness, Veteran support, etc. Our training classes consist of; Weapons Safety, De-escalation techniques, Range days, and more.

Everything that is S.K., our goal is to improve the Kansas City community in any way possible. S.K. Security was created because there was a lack of reliable security guards in the Kansas City Metro area who are reliable and prepared to lend a hand when needed. One of the sister companies, S.K.
