Today we’d like to introduce you to Leesa Daniel.
Hi Leesa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Nails were always my first love. I always remember being as young as 5, using my mom or my aunt Aretha’s nail polish. I loved going to the nail salon with my Godmother Jackie to watch the whole process. She eventually bought my God sister and me nail stripper brushes and we started practicing the nail designs we would see on display in the nail salon. When I got a little older, I would beg for one of those Kiss nail kits from Osco Drug and would try my best to do a full set of nails on myself.
Even though the products were terrible, I was always proud of the outcome. During my senior year in high school, my best friend Sidney and I would go get our nails done by this lady named Lorena. She had her own nail salon and she did some of the best designs in the city. She never duplicated her designs so every time you got your nails done, you had a unique set of nails. One thing about me is that I’ve ALWAYS been unique! Once I figured out I could express that through nails, I knew that’s what I wanted to do for a living.
In 2011, I graduated from Paris II in Gladstone, MO and I received my manicurist license. From 2011 til 2016, I worked in salons until I began working in my own private suite. I wanted my own space so I could do whatever my heart desires and I could give my clients individual attention. I love having that 1-on-1 time with my clients because we really get to know each other.
We laugh, dance, vent, cry and just talk about everyday life. One thing I love to hear from my clients is that my space is relaxing and it smells good! From the incense to the plants, it’s definitely a vibe to experience while getting your nails done!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Whew! Do you have time? Lol absolutely! I’ve moved to and from Texas, got married, and had 3 kids. In those times, it was hard to balance work and home so there were times I had to take breaks away. No matter how hard the obstacle was for me, I always came back harder!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a licensed nail tech located in Kansas City, MO.
I specialize in natural nail care, nail extensions, and unique nail art. I am known for my ability to give my clients exactly what they want while putting my own twist on it. I am most proud of how many times my work has been published on tv or online. I’ve done a commercial for the nail school I graduated from, nails for an America’s Top Model competition and I have nails featured on GoPuff and other online boutiques.
What sets me apart from others is that I really care about your natural nails. I give all of my client’s dry manicures before every service and it does wonders for your natural nails under your extensions while helping your nails last 3+ weeks! When I have a new client in my chair, they’re always shocked once they receive the dry manicure and express that they’ve never had anyone do that before.
