Life & Work with Riley Fuchs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Riley Fuchs.

Hi Riley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Everyone knew the girl that did all of the hair for every event in high school. They knew a girl that was always willing to braid your hair during lunch, in the middle of class, or after school before sports practice.

I was the girl in high school. I grew up watching my mother work in a salon. I was always fascinated by her work and how she got to make people feel beautiful every day. She had a passion to make women feel good about themselves, I carried on that passion.

I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist and a salon owner as a freshman in high school. I wanted to be able to graduate early from high school and go straight into cosmetology school that way I could start my career as early as possible, and I did just that. In December 2018, I was able to graduate from Spring Hill High School a semester early so I could start at Johnson Country Community College School of Cosmetology that following month.

Luckily, I was able to graduate from both high school and cosmetology school and get licensed as well as start my apprenticeship before Covid-19 hit. I started my career at tālem salon in North West Olathe. I worked under two amazing women that taught me everything I know and to never quit following my dream.

They pushed me to be the best I can be and I grew an amazing, loyal clientele. Earlier this year, I decided to spread my wings and take the next step in achieving my dreams of becoming a salon owner. I opened RF Artistry on May 2o22. Even though it’s been only two months, It’s been the best two months of my life.

Here I am at 21 years old owning my own suite and I couldn’t have done it without my mentors, my clients, my amazing boyfriend, and his family, and most importantly my mother and my family. They have all been there to help me and encourage me to never quit dreaming and working to achieve my goals.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say it’s been a smooth road! There’s definitely a lot of learning and researching but I have many resources and people on my side to help me along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Salon Suite Owner and Hairstylist inside Sola Salon Studios. I specialize in lived-in, natural-looking color and balayage.

Most of my clients would say I am known for my curls and blowouts, and my former coworkers know me for the way I seamlessly color my client’s hair lines. What sets me apart from others is that I truly take the time to listen to my clients and find out what they truly want as well as strive to give them the hair of their dreams while respecting the integrity of their hair.

I am most proud that I own a salon suite even though I am only 21 years old as well as only been in the industry for two and a half years.

What’s next?
In the next five to ten years, I plan to have a storefront as well as a coffee shop and clothing boutique attached to it!
