Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Peoples.
Hi Deborah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my business in 2020, and honestly, my husband said you need to find something you love doing. At that moment, I had been battling depression so bad back in 2016 I had a 28-weeker due to me having to serve preeclampsia. It caused her to have so many health problems that I ended up quitting my job; everything was dark for many years, and I blamed myself for everything. Even though I knew I couldn’t control anything that had happened. I was a little nervous to start a business during covid, but it was amazing when I said I sold out every day for months. I felt like I had a purpose again. I started with one product; now, I have over 50 amazing products. From haircare, skincare, and body care, a baby and toddler line that’s dedicated to my 3 children.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
It has been a bumpy road that began to turn smooth last year, I had opened up a store with another person, and it just wasn’t a good idea; I was disappointed it didn’t work out. It must have been a reason because since then, I’ve met so many amazing people and have had so many amazing opportunities. Such as working with the school board to Donate my products, doing mall events, fairs, etc., has just been amazing, and I am grateful to have these opportunities and chances to grow not only my business but my social skills.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So many amazing products worked for my family and me; I created them for others to enjoy. So I have an organic haircare, skincare, body-care line, and a baby and toddler line. That includes hair oils, mist, conditioners, bath tea, pillow spray, and diaper rash cream.
I specialize in making all organic products with no chemicals—products that work for all haircare and skincare types. I offer products for sensitive skin, hair, and body. I also put lots of love into my products; making these products are a huge joy.
I am known for being the lady with a lot of hair. Lol, when I am out in public, people say, omg, I heard about you. Do you have any products on hand, and I laugh because I never have products on hand. It’s cool to have helped so many people grow their hair or bring them confidence in wearing their hair. Lots of my customers have struggled with that, and I made a difference, so that makes my day and makes me push my business way harder.
I am proud that I have made a difference that I helped someone, rather it was giving them advice or helping them start their own business. So many customers or people I know are always saying how I have motivated them to start their own business. I love to help others. It’s way too much money to act stingy with any Information I want everyone to win, and if that means giving someone help with the same business as mine, I will. When it’s my time to go, I will know I made a difference, which makes me proud because there are not too many people in the world like that.
What sets me apart from others is that it’s not even about the money. I love what I do seeing others smile, rather I grew their hair, or their skin began to clear up. It’s just a joy to be able to help someone and make them smile . 2 years in this business, and I must say a lot of my customers say my customer service skills are A1. I’m quick on my toes when it comes to them. They make me, and I appreciate them. I would be nothing if it weren’t for all the amazing people that have supported me from the jump. I am grateful.
What would you say has been one of your most important lessons?
The most important lesson for me would be to do what you love to do and what makes you happy this is your world, and others are just living in it. If you are not satisfied, do you think others will care? I have realized they don’t, and along the way, I made sure whatever I have done in my business, I’ve done what has made me happy, not outsiders that were negative towards anything I was doing. Ultimately, I came out on top and spoke nothing but positivity. Another thing to learn is to work with others that care as much as I do. I won’t work with anyone that doesn’t put in the same energy or motivation as me again.
