Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Card.
Hi Tara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve always known I wanted to be a photographer, ever since the 8th grade! I just didn’t know how I’d go about achieving that goal!
After high school, I enlisted in the United States Navy to get my life kick-started I guess you could say! I served for 5 years, and while I had an AMAZING time serving my country and traveling all over, I had an end goal in mind, go to college for photography!!
After I was discharged, I enrolled at the Art Institute of Virginia Beach/Atlanta and I graduated in 2014, and I’ve been in business since 2011!! I started my business while in school so I got a little head start!!
While in school, I did find myself a mentor to teach me outside of school, and someone I could shadow at weddings and events, and I will say that was PRICELESS! My mentor definitely helped me excel and get to where I am today!
For that, I am forever thankful!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh gosh, this road has definitely NOT been a smooth one, and I don’t think the road of growth will ever be smooth!
It’s supposed to be bumpy, to help teach us, mold us and help us grow. As an artist, I’m always trying to grow my skills and be more creative. It’s kind of a blessing and a curse; always wanting to be better, and never being completely satisfied where I am today.
There are always struggles when starting a business, finding your ideal bride and groom, honing in on your niche, marketing, blogging, advertising, and finding “your people” in the business!
It all comes with time, and making mistakes! It’s a tough road, but SO very rewarding!!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding photographer and I photograph weddings all over the world! I specialize in weddings, but I also love photographing families, too! I am known for being FUN, creative, loving, invested, and being so dedicated to my work! It’s truly my life, and I am SO blessed!
I am most proud that I had the opportunity to photograph the most beautiful wedding at Willie Nelson’s ranch in Luck, Texas a few years ago! It was SUCH an amazing opportunity to BE there, and I was able to give Willie the biggest hug! Such a great moment, for sure!
I think what sets me apart from others is that I pour my heart and soul into my work and my clients. My brides and grooms are everything to me, and I want to make sure I spoil them! Being a part of their wedding day is such a blessing, and I want them to know how much I appreciate them!
I also love being able to have fun with my couples, and help them feel their best when they’re in front of my camera! I do take pride in knowing I can help anyone feel their best!

I love 7 habits of Highly Effective People, which helped my mindset SO much.
