Conversations with Faye Walls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faye Walls.

Hi Faye, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started doing hair when I was 17 in a room in my mother’s home. I had turned it into a Beaty Salon. I remember being so excited when I began booking clients. I quickly saw that it was a passion and a career I could see myself pursuing. After getting my license, I worked in a few salons but was never satisfied with where I was. As my clientele grew, I felt confident I could take myself to the next level. I had a young son and took the time to be there for all his football accomplishments. It was hard. It wasn’t all easy, and I must make many sacrifices. Fast forward, I had a conversation with my husband, and he had so much confidence in me and reassured me that it was something I could do and that he would do whatever he could to help. It was like music to my ears; I did my research. I found a location which I then opened up in January of 2010 what would be called Sinshear Hair and Beauty Salon. It has been doing amazing since the day I opened up. I was in that location for 10 years with two of the best stylist I could have ever been blessed with. I then received notice that we would have to relocate because the location was being demolished. Then the Pandemic hit us.

We had to close, not knowing where we would return to suddenly. I spent my entire time off during the Pandemic looking and praying that I, that We as a salon, could recover from this. With all blessings due to GOD, I found what is now located in Independence, Mo., a newer, bigger, and better location that is much nicer and more open. We observe social distancing, and we can assist our clients comfortably. It is a safe and fun environment. Business came back better than ever. I feel blessed and overwhelmed with joy that I can do what I love to do every day as a master stylist with 30 years of experience under my belt. I appreciate everyone who has ever supported me throughout these. 12 years of being an Entrepreneur.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been smooth. In this business, you have to understand how to manage your money. If you don’t have money management skills, you could fail fast.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I do hair. I specialize in natural hair and relaxed hair. I am known for the silk press. Long hair, short hair, custom colors, hair cuts. Etc. I am most proud of my knowledge of hair. Healthy hair is what matters most to me. I’m not here to take your money. I am a skilled master hairstylist with over 25 years of experience. When you leave my Salon, I want to ensure that you leave satisfied and a returning client.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Social media is the way to keep up with the different trends. I watch a lot of hair videos from pertinent stylists from different states.

A wonderful place! You will not be disappointed. I love it, very good customer Service, fast paced, clean environment and nothing but good times at SINSHEAR✂️ My favorite part is knowing my hair is in the hands of someone who’s truly LUV what she do💜
