Meet Talia’s Team of Wichita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Talia’s Team. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The founder, Tara Levine, is the oldest sibling to Talia, who accidentally passed away in February 2018 and started the program based on the needs she identified. In 2018, Talia was struggling with a lot of life situations that were occurring all at once. As many young adults do, she turned to drugs and alcohol to help cope with the challenges life presented; she was unsure how to navigate the obstacles thrown at her. Talia’s Team was developed to satisfy the gap identified when young ladies venture out into the world to find themselves after high school and college. The program is inspired by Talia’s story, a young lady who had such a bright personality but struggled in finding herself and navigating the world of adulthood. Still, Talia’s story is not unique- many young ladies struggle with finding who they are and how they show up for the world. Talia’s Team is a group of diverse women who recognize a need to influence and support future females.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The challenges have been finding people who recognize this gap and bring it on board in schools and colleges. The mission is powerful, but sometimes people feel like they can’t relate, and other times, young ladies are unsure how to accept help/mentorship. After leaving the parental home, young ladies sometimes want to explore life on their own and not have guidance, but then end up abandoning all directions and making things more challenging for their growth and development.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Talia’s Team, a nonprofit organization designed to help young ladies transition from high school into college. I am also the owner of Tara Levine Coaching, which works with ambitious leaders in life who crave development and want to improve the quality of their life better. Outside of the two organizations I lead, I am a risk manager for a government entity responsible for overseeing the company’s exposure to risk. I am also a mother to two boys, ages 7 and 12, and a wife. I am an armature painter in my free time and love to jump rope.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mother, Joyce Copley, taught me strength and perseverance – to never give up, keep moving forward, and work towards your ambitions and dreams. My husband, Jason Levine, taught me that communication is key to developing a meaningful relationship. My two kids always kept me honest and taught me new things. Talias Team Board, Rheagan King, Creative Director. Letitia “Neicy” Tajuba, Vice President, and Kallandra Horner, Secretary, constantly show up to deliver the mission and work hard because they believe in our work. A few of my professional mentors, Cindy Shanks and Matt Largent, have played a big role in who I am and how I show up.
