Meet Angelica Ahumada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Ahumada.

Hi Angelica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My art journey started a few years ago as an act of self-care. That is when I started perfecting my craft to grow something for myself and help express my feelings or experiences.

I am a self-taught multimedia artist. Over the years, I have worked to perfect my skills in painting, illustration, printmaking, and currently paper cutting.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it has been smooth, teaching yourself a craft or skill is never easy nor comes without its own failures.

It definitely became easier when I reached out for help from other creatives, such as my fiancé or friends.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have spent the past couple of years deconstructing the human form into colorful abstract creations.

My goal is to showcase the beauty in individuals’ natural features without distractions. This is done in a more abstract and minimalist art form to accentuate each individual feature.

My main focus is expressing the art of uniqueness through the paintings or collaging of faces. Most recently I have started broadening this idea to find the beauty in everyday life candids.

What matters most to you?
Currently, my life revolves around the family I am creating with my fiancé.

We are expecting our first child in July. As far as my art, I would say maintaining the feeling of relief I get from creating.

I don’t want to burn myself out or look at it like just another job and not something I truly enjoy. These both bring joy and love into my world.
