Check Out Keilla Spencer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keilla Spencer.

Keilla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a passion for writing. It was my outlet to express my thoughts and feelings when I was a kid.

As I got older social media became my influence. I was amazed at how bloggers/public figures felt so free to express their thoughts and creativity for fashion. That’s when “StyleonUnique Studio” came into play in 2015 on Instagram!

I started creating clothing looks on a website called Polyvore which is now SSENSE. I would go through all of the listed designers and put together a lookbook of different styles based on what I would wear and how I would dress someone that needed help.

Later on down the road, I decided I wanted a website built where people can get the best of both worlds. Fashion, blogging, and my lifestyle journey. My website is in the making and should be launched by next year!

Although “StyleonUnique Studio” is still in the works, I opened a new path in my life. I became a licensed realtor for Missouri and Kansas in 2022. It’s amazing how someone else can see your destiny being involved in a different career. Thanks to my sis Carleshia Walker who’s been a realtor for several years, and also opened up her own brokerage “Walker Realty Co.”

Which I am so happy to be licensed under! I was able to experience some of the showings with her on days we were just out and about. As we got back in the car she brought to my attention what did I think about becoming a realtor?

At first, I was like I don’t know, then later on as time went on I was like okay you know what I’m open to new opportunities and seeing where it goes! So I enrolled in my classes last year in August; completed them and I have been on my journey since.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think for both career paths, understanding things are never going to go right the first or the second or third time. And when you want something so bad. I’ve learned that God tested my character several times. I ran into some bad business with a lady I paid to create my website back in 2019 and it didn’t go so well.

For 7 months, I was given the runaround, but I ended up getting my money back with no website done. So I was back to square one rethinking what I wanted to do. Then in May 2020, I paid a lady to make me a new logo. I had one previously already but I was ready for a revamp.

The lady showed me a rough draft of what she came up with and I end up liking 2 of the designs so I paid extra for them both. I never received any final work. She blocked me and so forth. So back to square one, I found another lady who delivered and I have now a logo for “StyleonUnique Studio.”

Becoming a realtor definitely wasn’t a walk in the park for me. I sacrificed a lot of time and took off days to study and take the test. It took quite a bit for me to pass my Missouri National for my license but I passed! That goes to show you that God definitely was testing me. Each time, I did fail, I came back and prayed to God asking that he’ll show me what else I needed to study or what he wanted me to see that I was overlooking.

I believe it was the process God wanted to see where my faith and determination were. I was putting in the time and effort each time. Something I keep in my mind daily is “I am capable of any and everything I put my heart and mind to as long as I keep God first and keep going. Everything will work out in my favor.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed realtor for Missouri and Kansas at “Walker Realty Co.”

I help clients to buy, sell, and invest in residential and commercial real estate. My job as a realtor is to help my clients during the homeownership process and also build longevity and generational wealth!

As a blogger and someone who loves fashion my ultimate goal is to inspire others alongside me while I share my passion and express who I am and what I’m still becoming!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
PROCESS because success doesn’t happen overnight.

And in order to take action quite a bit of character will be challenged. And I feel like PERSEVERANCE was definitely the first for me. I never gave up on my goals no matter what obstacle got in the way of me trying to get my website or logo made or even my realtor license. I stayed persistent and even when I got upset and frustrated I still kept going and continued to pray.

And I think that’s what made me AMBITIOUS because I already had in my mind that this was something I wanted to succeed at. As a pre-teenage girl in middle school, I knew from the jump I wanted a life that offered more for me. My morals for myself when I was a pre-teenage girl and who I am as a woman now have always been uprightness. And over the years I’ve become advanced with knowing who I am first and staying honest with myself.

And lastly, SACRIFICE. I put in a lot of time, and effort and took days off from work, staying up all night, and not going to party or hang with family on weekends because I knew I needed to study for my test or perfect my craft. I had to realize that God will remove certain people and things out of your life in order for you to elevate and see the bigger picture. And a lot of people will not understand your plan and that’s okay.

Remain humble, have faith, put in the work, and stay in prayer!!!! “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12 NIV.
