Today we’d like to introduce you to Paley Carmona.
Hi Paley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
One day, I was scrolling through TikTok and I noticed a lot of things that at the time I didn’t really know what it was.
Well, I asked my husband what it could be, and he said Chamoy. I’m like oh ok. So I research it more on TikTok and it turned out there were a few how-tos. So I’m like I can do that.
I attempted and on my first try, he was like this is good! I kind of threw it to the side and didn’t think about it again. Just another thing I wanted to try. That was December last year. Well a couple of weeks later, we had a friend’s New Year’s and I made threw it to the side and didn’t think about it again. Just another thing I wanted to try.
That was December last year. Well a couple of weeks later, we had a friend’s New Year and I made a Mexican candy charcuterie board. Where I made it again but this time with my own twist. They fell in love. So I was like ok ok. So I took it to his family’s house. Where they were literally eating it straight.
Erik and I got the idea that we could maybe sell it. And here we are later with our own version!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
We think it’s been a smooth road. We have been moving at a decent pace with the support of our families and our
friends. The only struggle we have had is wanting to do so much at once but knowing we need to slow it down.
We are just naturally well-rounded and creative people.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In my personal background, I had taken basically every food class there was to offer in high school. It was always a
dream of mine to go and open my own bakery one day. My husband, Erik, and I met when working at a local pizzeria.
So I guess you can say we have always had food in our blood. I am now currently a concierge at an apartment complex where I help plan events and help current residents. I am also going to school for Marketing and have just
achieved my Social Media Marketing Certification.
My husband, Erik, has such a large background as well. He did culinary for some time in college and then moved on to other mediums. He currently works with me but as a maintenance tech. He also has his own dreams of being a wood carpenter. He has his own business too. He has made some beautiful pieces from desks and cabinets to custom dog kennels.
If you want it, he can make it.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My husband and co-owners favorite childhood memory are when he was little his parents always made it a point to go do something every Saturday. They would go out and get dinner and then go out to a movie or sprint center. Just
always having family time.
I remember all the time my mom trying to invent new dishes. I looked forward to her random soups where she would just throw whatever we had in the fridge, into a pot and somehow it worked. My mom was always adamant about making us homemade cakes every year to for our birthdays. It’s a big inspiration to me now!
