Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Locke.
Hi Jenna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
After the lockdown, I took a wheel throwing pottery class and everything grew from there.
I purchased a small wheel so that I could practice at home, then while looking for a kiln, I ended up purchasing a ceramic studio!! I taught myself about slip casting and started offering painting classes.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles when learning a new craft or starting a business. I am a single mom who runs a home with two kids that play club soccer, and I had a full-time job when I started pottery! You find the time to make your dream a reality.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in pottery painting parties/workshops.
After the past few years, I feel there are a lot of women out there that give so much to their home and family that they have nothing left over for themselves.
I thrive in social settings and wanted to offer a reason to get out of the house (or stay in with friends), have fun, and be creative!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
Right now, I am partnered with Bourgmont Winery & Vineyard in Bucyrus, KS, White Tail Run Winery & Vineyard in Edgerton, KS, and Blue Valley Rec Activity Center in Overland Park, KS to host different pottery painting classes.
I also offer in-home parties for any occasion – birthdays, bridal or baby showers, bachelorette parties, girls’ or couples’ nights. The possibilities are endless!
You can find finished pieces for sale inside Prairie House Boutique on the 3rd floor of Martin’s Memories in the Historic West Bottoms, KC, MO.
One day, I would love to have a public studio space where people can just walk in and be creative!
