Rising Stars: Meet Morgan Layne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Layne.

Hi Morgan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Growing up, I was a competitive dancer and took every art class available in my high school at the time. I was always interested in the art side of things and creating is a major outlet for the emotions I had as an angsty teen.

Once I graduated, I took on more challenging roles to create MORE. I choreographed theatre and dance shows for a while, but due to COVID all of that came to a screeching halt. It was then I decided to chase my fashion and design dreams, along with co-hosting a podcast, Thank The Mouse, starting a blog, Best Day Ever, and becoming a social media digital creator.

After 29 years of searching for a career that suits me, I believe I have finally found it! I cannot WAIT to share all my inspirations with the world and hope that maybe, I will inspire others to do the same!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a social media digital creator, and for lack of a better expression, the struggle is real. In 2020, I started an Etsy shop, Land Of Make Believe, and mainly specialized in making masks for those in need, and in the true “fashion” sense, I began customizing Disney-inspired jean jackets.

I hit roadblocks with funds during the pandemic so being able to stay stable, is not the smoothest road but I wouldn’t change it at all. My struggles are my victories. Being able to overcome even my own emotions proved as much a challenge as the latter. I know I am not alone when I say that this pandemic changed my extrovert into an introvert and honestly that has been the highest hill to climb.

Although it ultimately led to me closing my Etsy shop, I will never stop ascending over those hills as they’ve made me stronger and more adaptable. Sharing how I made it to where I am today is my greatest adventure.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Disney and Lifestyle content creator with an emphasis on magical fashion!

Sometimes, I Disney Bound, or work with small shops, like Nostalchicks, to style Disney Parks ready outfits, coast to coast, even worldwide. I have always loved clothes and I remember my mum getting mad I’d change my outfit 2 to 3 times a day, but when the mood changed, so did my look.

Looking back now, I am proud of that crazy blue eyeshadow rocking, sequined purse wearing, Lisa Frank days that threw me into my obsession for being chic. Over the last 12 years or so, I have become more me than I have ever felt, and I am so proud of that woman. I am me for me and only me!

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Since I am from Kansas City, MO and my mum went to school with Walt Disney’s grandkids, Diane and David Disney, I have always felt a strong connection to the family. There is a foundation that is trying to reconstruct Walt’s first purchased studio, Laugh-O-Gram Animation Studios.

Thank You, Walt Disney, inc is accepting donations to make the dream of turning it into a multi-part building; a museum, animation & sound studio, cafe, and gift shop, including a huge outside complex with a theatre and more!

I’ve always wanted to help fundraise for a cause and I believe that bringing this project to life is something we need creatively here in the Midwest! http://thankyouwaltdisney.org/.
