Today we’d like to introduce you to Judy James.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve had a longing and a sense that something was missing in my life for as long as I can remember. I searched for that something in getting married, having children, owning a business, getting a more expensive car, a bigger house, lots of clothes, all the trappings of what we ‘should’ want and do.
This continued until I became so miserable that I had to make changes in my life. I realized that I was going to have to take responsibility for my life and my happiness and stop blaming others and depending on them to make me happy.
I started the journey of unbecoming everything that wasn’t me. That’s the Spiritual journey, looking inside for the answers. I’ve spent the last few years with the intention to be the me I came here to be. To be the greatest version of who I am.’ I surrendered.
Judy is a writer/author, speaker, Reiki Master, Mind Body Spirit Practitioner, Inspirationalist, and a hairstylist. She loves to inspire, learn, teach, and travel. She is passionate about connection with Spirit and with others who share her fascination for self-exploration and the desire to make changes in themselves.
What has unfolded is nothing short of miraculous! I had no idea that I love to write and speak! If you had told me a year ago that I would write and publish a book, I would have laughed at you! I am still not sure how that all happened!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of my most difficult challenges have led to my greatest blessings. I struggled probably the most with self-care and putting my needs before others. I struggled with my inner world and the outer world being so disconnected. I was very different on the inside than I appeared to be on the outside.
I struggled thinking I had to know everything and control everything in order to have the life I desired. I struggled with trusting myself, others, and Spirit (God, the Universe).
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I absolutely love to speak and share about my journey. I love to guide others on their journey to finding their authentic expression, their true essence. I love to write my blog posts each week. There is never a plan, I just write what comes to me.
I am most proud of being vulnerable enough to share my journey, It took a while to get there! I used to think being vulnerable was a weakness, now I know it’s the greatest strength and gift we have.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
This journey is a process, it won’t be finished until we take our last breath. Relax, be kind and compassionate with yourself. Practice gratitude along the way, especially in the challenges.
Most of all, be okay with not knowing where your path will go, just surrender, get curious, and follow the nudges.
