Exploring Life & Business with Kayla Arthur of We Deserve Retreats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Arthur.

Kayla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The first time I visited my husband’s home country, I realized: His carefree, seemingly effortless way of being wasn’t just him, it was the culture of St. Vincent and The Grenadines. People danced joyfully, sang loudly without hesitation, and always made time to savor life beyond work. A woman from the small town of Salina, KS, this way of life felt like my utopia.

Unwinding on the islands, I started letting go of insecurities and reconnecting with my inner joy. I carried this newfound energy home with me- letting it boost my wellness business and my personal life. My wellness practice has since expanded from massage therapy to reiki, retreats, and breathwork.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It always takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and faith to keep a business going, with all the unforeseen circumstances of the last two years this is even more true. For the safety of our clients, we had to refund and cancel 2 retreats in 2020. Thankfully, with new safety protocols in place, we can see our wonderful clients next year at our summer retreat.

As you know, we’re big fans of We Deserve Retreats. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We Deserve Retreats, is here to combat the idea that the only way to live stressed out and exhausted. We are taking time to rest because we deserve it. We aren’t going to settle for just going through the motions anymore. We deserve more.

Our retreats each focus on a core value of wellness. Being outside of your familiar surroundings and responsibilities gives you time to focus on your own well-being. Being on the island of St. Vincent is invigorating and rejuvenating.

Your trip takes place in beautiful luxury accommodations surrounded by the ocean. We include fun activities like taking a private cruise, dancing the night away, and relaxing on the beach. As well as restorative practices like meditation, group work, and energy healing. We are multifaceted individuals and our retreats reflect that.

With a mix of fun and wellness, you will leave the island with a new view of life and a new community of friends.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to be adaptable. Finding ways to pivot when life throws curve balls whether it’s small like a delayed flight or as big as the pandemic.
