Today we’d like to introduce you to Mynesha Hagen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up I never knew my mother and grandmother did hair. and at that point, I knew it was destined. A few years later I was given the task of taming my two-niece hair that was flowing down their backs. From that day on I started creating looks of my own and really looking into the field of cosmetology. During my high-school years, I took up nail technician at ATS in Kansas City, Kansas where I learned to do nail sculpting, artificial nails, and many other skills that I would go on to use in life. As of today, I’m a cosmetologist, nail tech. freelance makeup up artist, model, and influencer. During my adult years, I give back to my community more than ever… I almost lost my life about 2 years ago from a tumor and I knew God kept me here for a reason…and that’s to give hairstyles and makeup to women and young girls who just need to feel like the queens they are. This has always been my passion to see all women feel confident and beautiful on the inside and out. That is my only mission in life. Seeing them happy makes me happy this is why I’m in it for the long run. I love being the person people look up to it’s a blessing and I thank God every day for allowing me to be an inspiration to others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The loss of a family can always be hard and, in the year of 2016, I lost my twin niece who was very dear to me. Some days I still cry but then I see a lady bug which was also her nickname and I only started seeing those after she passed, I love seeing them it reminds my of how good of a person she was…
2019 I went to ICU twice got a tumor removed from my stomach making it smaller, left the hospital still had infection in my stomach went back and on July 4 I was able to say I was fully healed and recovering I never gave up it was a hard fight I won and I’m blessed and humble as ever
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a stylist who deals with women who have hair loss so I make wigs and gear my work more towards them. Hair loss for women in the world that we live in can be overwhelming sometimes especially when you’re trying to keep up with beauty standard today… I want them to feel just a great next to a woman with a head full of hair…
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Yes, put yourself out there. You have no limits on how great you could be. I always keep a journal and write down one daily, weekly, and monthly goal I want to accomplish… if that’s doesn’t work get cute, self-confidence and a good fur coat always makes me feel better besides being one with nature and the environment around me
