Meet Nicole Rice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Rice.

Nicole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve dreamt of owning my own shop for as long as I can remember. I’ve always had a passion for small business and clothing. It makes my heart flutter!

After dreaming/researching for 6-7 years, I decided to take the plunge and open an online shop. January 2018. I’ve never looked back. I was traveling on the road with my husband at the time, and it seemed like the perfect time to begin. I had just lost my father and was a newish mom. This was something that really helped me find my purpose again.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I have been very blessed with not only the most amazing customers but support system as well. Running a business is challenging! I also still work a full-time job, am a mom, wife and have cattle at home. Our family is incredibly busy, but this is my happy balance.

Every month brings something new to learn. It’s not always picture-perfect. You’re going to have stellar weeks and weeks that make you want to cry. I think one of the biggest things is to remember why you started and how far you’ve come. To me, that’s something that helps me overcome any struggle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a banker by day but have done a multitude of things. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business administration with an emphasis in marketing. Since then, I’ve been in the casino industry and now banking. I enjoy working with the public and helping customers.

What’s next?
I have always been a big planner, however over the last couple of years, I’ve tried not to worry about the BIG picture as much. When I started this boutique, I always told myself I would “Just see where it takes me.” It has taken me all over the place. From meeting new people to making lifelong connections, knowledge of a new industry, personal growth, the list goes on. I guess my answer to this question is that I don’t have any big changes planned just yet. I’m just along for the ride!
