Community Highlights: Meet Jillian Haun of The Beauty Project

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Haun.

Hi Jillian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a hairstylist for eight years! I got the idea to combine and celebrate inner and outer beauty six years ago. I began interviewing people about what beauty is and what it is that makes them beautiful as, separately, I worked on my hair career. I now get to combine the two biggest parts of myself talk about beauty by asking questions while doing hair!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve had a hard time finding the salon for me that meets all of my needs, desires and wants. I’ve also struggled with feeling and believing it was a worthwhile project

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Beauty Project is a hair salon that is committed to cultivating harmony by blending inner and outer beauty. Here we have removed gender and age from our service menu, this system allows us to focus on beauty, art, and creativity of expression! ​

In this safe space, we have an opportunity to dive deeper into what beauty is and what makes us beautiful while getting your hair done.

It is a conversation and an ongoing project that has been alive since 2015.

One of the visions is to create a community-funded and donation-based program that grants hair services to people who cannot afford them for their interviews, jobs, or special life events.

The Beauty Project aims to create a positive impact not only in our community but also our planet as a whole by recycling and choosing less wasteful options whenever possible.

What matters most to you? Why?
Listening to and caring about people. Being of service to humanity, being creative and living a purposeful and impactful abundant life.
