Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Zarich.
Hi Leah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started LZ Photography in 2018. It was something I had thought about for a long time before finally pulling the trigger. Although I am a pediatric nurse at Children’s Mercy, I have always loved expressing myself through different artistic modalities. I love having photography as an outlet that I can do outside of work. I enjoy working with people and families and get so much joy creating lifelong memories for them. I have grown so much since starting LZ Photography and learn something new with every shoot.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One challenge has been balancing my nursing career along with my photography business. I want to give my all to both and it can be a challenge to find enough time for everything.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in photos of families, couples, portraits, and seniors! I love capturing the “in between” moments. A lot of times people feel weird or awkward in front of the camera and feel like their pictures might turn out the same way. My favorite part is sending clients their album and hearing they loved how they turned out.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Having a career as a nurse, the pandemic of course created challenges for me. My photography had to take a back seat as people weren’t having photos done and working in the hospital was time and energy-consuming enough. I’m so happy to be back behind the camera.
