Community Highlights: Meet Erin Drennon of Hotworx 24 Hour Infrared Fitness Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Drennon.

Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been interested in taking care of myself and leading a healthy lifestyle the best way I could. My husband and I are entrepreneurs and we came across HOTWORX one evening. After some research and learning about all the benefits of working out in an infrared sauna, we were hooked! Shortly after visiting New Orleans where their world headquarters are located, we decided to be the first HOTWORX location to open in Johnson County. We decided Western Shawnee was the perfect location because of all the growth that was happening and it fit our client base the best.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a new business is never an easy task, especially a new concept such as HOTWORX. We had to brand HOTWORX in a new market that most had never heard of. I had to work very hard on educating potential members and members about the benefits of 3D training (heat, infrared and exercise). Once our members tried their first session, they were hooked immediately.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hotworx 24 Hour Infrared Fitness Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
HOTWORX is a 24 Hour Infrared Fitness Studio. Members have access to the studio 24 hours a day. Sessions vary from 15-45 min in length, so even the busiest working professional, stay at home parent or college student can find time to work out. We offer eight infrared saunas with ten different sessions to choose from. We are very excited to offer Hot Thunder Row in the coming months as well. Members book all sessions from an app on their phone and they each have an individual code that lets them in the door when they arrive to earn the burn! Members can expect to burn twice as many calories while working out in our infrared saunas compared to a traditional gym workout. They will also love that they can burn even more calories up to an hour after their workout while their body returns to its normal temperature, we call this the “afterburn”.

What does success mean to you?
I think success is something that is earned not given. It only comes from hard work and determination. It is always doing my best and making the members of my studio feel good about themselves. Success is accomplishing what I have set out to do. I have given my members a place to come where they aren’t judged on their fitness journey, we cheer each other on and lift each other up!
