Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Wimer.
Hi Stacie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a 43 year old twice divorced mom of a 16 year old daughter. I am a Pharmaceutical Rep, a podcast host, and an aspiring author.
After my second divorce at the age of 41, I began online dating. As I shared my entertaining and often funny dating stories with my married friends, they encouraged me to write a book about my adventures. As I immersed myself, in both dating and the writing process, I began researching podcasts that might offer insights into dating later in life but I couldn’t find a podcast that talked about the single life at 40+ in a transparent, real way.
So, I decided to start a podcast myself. I launched “Man Shopping with Stacie” in May of 2021 with a mission to help other singles like me find more joy in life. I rallied the support of all of my friends through a series of podcast launch parties to get support and involvement to meet the goals of my mission. On my podcast, I share my real, transparent dating and life experiences for amusement and inspiration.
The success of the podcast has blown me away! It has been downloaded 14,500 times in 46 countries and 957 cities worldwide! I am working hard to build a platform to reach as many singles over 40 as possible through my podcast, website, social media accounts, and upcoming book.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a wild ride balancing my daughter, my career, dating, producing a weekly podcast, and writing a book. Thankfully, I’ve received a tremendous amount of support from my family, friends, and online community.
Their encouragement helps me to be brave and bold and to keep sharing my optimistic message.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am just a normal, divorced working mom. My dating and life experiences aren’t any more outlandish or entertaining than anyone else’s. After feeling shame and guilt after two divorces, what sets me apart is the fact that I am willing to share my stories on a global podcast and soon in a book for all to read.
I boldly and proudly share my face and name with my stories as well as my faults, mistakes, and learnings so that others can relate to my experiences.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the greatest blessings of producing my podcast, building an online community, and writing my book is meeting so many supportive people. I’ve consistently reached out to others to ask for advice and help for every aspect of my projects. For instance, a 21-year-old friend of mine designed my website and helped me with marketing my podcast launch.
An audio professional from my church edits and produces the audio for my podcast. A childhood friend helped me with graphic design. I’ve been asked by online friends to be a guest on their podcasts. A podcast listener referred me for this very interview!
My advice is to ask for help and collaborate with others as much as possible. It’s impossible to be an expert in everything!
