Today we’d like to introduce you to Tj Wynn.
Hi Tj, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wassup, I’m Tj/Sachhi. I’m 1/4 of Tha GoonEz, a production group from Kansas City, Kansas. I’m a self-taught/producer and engineer. I’ve been producing about 7 years now and honestly, it was a gift from God because I never seen producing music in my life as a kid. The journey has been a journey that’s been worth every minute, I just wish I started sooner in life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think journey through life that’s truly worth it has a smooth road attached to it. It hasn’t been a smooth road but I have no complaints. I believe it all happened for a reason and each mistake has been a lesson learned and made us better men and producers. Our biggest struggle these days are probably the market in which we live in, the majority of the people in our field not fully understanding that music has another side to it which is called business, and us holding ourselves back.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music producer who specializes in hip hop, trap, and r&b. I’ve recently got into scoring tv/films. One of our most proudest moments as of late is helping to do the music for a documentary/tv show that aired on PBS. And also, I’m very proud of everything we do for our community, we genuinely want to see our city do and be better. What am I known for? That’s a good question, I don’t really know. I’m sure a lot of people in the music world would say my drive to get best out of everyone we work with. One thing I feel like sets me apart from others is my level of understanding and my will to win. People out here just want the perks; they don’t really want to win.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My whole childhood was one big memory. My shit was fire, I can’t even lie. A major memory from my childhood was my first time going to Vegas, I was around 12-13 years old and it was just an eye-opening experience. That was my introduction into “there is a bigger world out there” and ever since that moment I knew I wanted more than what I seen every day in Kansas City.
