Rising Stars: Meet Cortez Washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cortez Washington.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m an Associate Director of Career Services at a University. I recently returned back to my office after working remotely for 19 months. Being a man of fashion, I was sitting at my kitchen table and I thought to myself. How can I pray for people and have them represent my brand in a fashionable way? So, I began learning how to create customized bracelets for men and women.

I named my hobby King Queen Bracelets because I want to encourage individuals to know that they are worthy and or of value like King’s and Queen’s. I pray over each bracelet because that component is important to me. My bracelets are currently sold all over the US and can be purchased on my site www.kingqueenbracelet.com

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This process has been typically a smooth road because people like the quality and the customer service that I provide. Now the next step is marketing to more people and serving them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an Associate Director of Career Services at a University. I supervise a staff of 9. My specialization is training staff on Career Services Education and programming for college students. What I’m most proud of is the student feedback I receive often on how I have or my colleagues have positively impacted their lives. It’s an amazing feeling.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Mentoring and networking in business is essential. I’m a leader by nature but there are certain people that I follow and seek guidance from. Having a wise counsel is crucial for both personal and business success.
