Today we’d like to introduce you to Missy Wilt-Roland.
Hi Missy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a 40 year old, business owner, wife and Mommy to a 6-year-old beautiful little girl.
My story could start with my basketball playing days of high school, college and semi-professional and professional. That part only tells a small part of who I am.
I was a high school teacher, basketball and track coach for 13 years. I’ve been a personal trainer for 20 years and always loved working with women to help them feel better and be better.
Three years ago, we lost my 2nd baby girl. She was still born and full term. So I held her and we buried her within the same 7 days. Life changes when you have such a heartache. As a Mommy I questioned myself and even more so, as a woman I questioned everything about my being.
I knew I could sit and be sad (although I wanted to) I had my then almost 3 year old daughter who I had to keep moving and being the best I can for.
So I call this journey in my life “for baby Harper”
I decided to step out of teaching and had the blessed opportunity to partner with a couple and be part owner of an all women’s gym.
Fast forward to 2021, life changed, I was a gym owner and we decided to part ways.
In comes- Phoenix. Why the name? Through my 2021 trials, I had a mentor reach out and send me a picture of a Phoenix- it happened to be a woman who was stepping out and transforming.
Yep. There it is.
The birth of our new gym.
Phoenix Fitness. For women. By Women.
We are more than a place to “just workout” we are a movement. We are what women need in their life. Realness. Empowerment. Acceptance. Not feeling judge. And then comes all the success from working on self- mind, body and soul.
So here we are- almost 5 months in and I couldn’t feel more happy and purposeful.
My hope- my 6 year old one day will take all this over and my baby in Heaven is smiling down so proud of her Momma(s)- I could lint do this withou lt my amazing Wife, my best friend, the calm to my crazy, my ground
And literally the BEST team in the KC area. Best trainers in KC guaranteed 💜
My story continues,,, each chapter with a new title and new ups and downs.
But like a Phoenix- I RISE
