Rising Stars: Meet Stacey Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Moore.

Hi Stacey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up outside of Kansas City, MO. I was always very creative and artistic. I loved to draw, paint, sculpt and get my hands dirty. I started making cakes when I was 14 and taught myself everything I know. It started as a hobby making fun things for friends on birthdays and holidays. I’ve worked as a Cake Designer in multiple bakeries before being hired by Cosentino’s in 2014. I worked my way through Cosentino’s Certification program until I reached Specialist level. In 2019 I won 1st place in my first Cake Decorating Competition. In 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, I was promoted to Corporate Bakery Catering Sales Manager. In this position, I help brides from all over the Kansas City Area achieve the Wedding Cakes of their dreams and I absolutely love what I do!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. This job can be very challenging and takes up most of my weekends. I average 3-6 weddings per weekend, so I have to be very organized. People are always coming up with more and more complex designs and I’m always working to advance my skills. I’ve worked as long as one week on one single cake!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a self-taught Cake Designer. I specialize in all kinds of over-the-top Wedding Cakes and Birthday Cakes in both buttercream and fondant. I’m known for my use of colors, smooth edges and clean and elegant designs. I’m always up for a challenge and love when I’m presented with bigger and bolder wedding cake ideas. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and the large portfolio I have built over the years! My work has been featured in Magazines, Advertisements, Books and Training Manuals! What sets me apart from others is I’m not afraid to do something crazy! I recently made the most beautiful 5ft tall, 7 tier wedding cake that blew my bride away! I was so excited when she told me the cake was her favorite part of her Wedding day!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I was promoted to this position right at the beginning of the Covid-19 Crisis. I spent months rescheduling Wedding after Wedding after Wedding. Listening to brides cry in frustration. It has been pretty exhausting at times, but I can’t imagine how difficult it is for couples trying to get married during these times. I’ve learned that intimate backyard “micro weddings” can be so incredibly beautiful! You don’t have to have a huge event to have the wedding of your dreams! It’s all about love in the end anyways!
