Check Out Jacqui Duran’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqui Duran.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am an accidental entrepreneur. I never set out to do anything like this, but I found that this is what I was made for. I started simply as a hobby, as maybe most of us do, and never really had any interest in doing this full-time.

I worked for a large health system in the Kansas City area and it wasn’t until some outsourcing began and I was given the opportunity to ‘retire’ early. My husband and I talked and prayed and knew we needed to pivot – our decision was that I would pour myself into my business and if in six months I wasn’t able to increase this hobby/side income into a real income, I would be going back into the corporate America cubicle life. And trust me, I was not even a little excited to do that.

So, I dove headfirst, training myself on social media, marketing, and networking. In five months, I achieved what I thought was the impossible. That was in 2019 and little did I know how well I had stayed on my path because when everything hit in 2020, I didn’t have to miss a beat. My business was already done from home, my marketing was on point and I was increasing my YouTube following as well.

Today, I have over 10,000 subscribers on YouTube, have multiple income streams, and am living my life on my own terms and paving the way for so much more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You know that meme of “success is never a straight line” it’s true. I was learning my way by teaching myself, pouring into myself, and networking with fellow social media marketers. I found a hundred ways how to NOT work my business, but through that, I found the best way to work my business. Trial and error are what help you to build your brand and only give you the insight to help others.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a trainer at heart. I love speaking in front of others, sharing tips and motivation, and my story. I am best known for my YouTube presence and for showing others, just like me, how to continue on their journey.

How to learn new social media marketing tools, programs, and apps, and of course, how to do the hard things. The things we need to do but aren’t always shown to others.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I learned that having an online presence is the one thing that helped me not to skip a beat in my business. In fact, I experienced hyper-growth because as people found they couldn’t work their 9 to 5 job, they needed to provide for their families and I was able to help them do just that.

I think that we feel like we “have” to live this certain lifestyle, but after everything we’ve been through during this time, it is clear more now than ever that we need to do things that help to support ourselves and our families.
