Community Highlights: Meet Jaclyn Green of Jaclyn Green Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclyn Green. 

Hi Jaclyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It’s hard to pinpoint where exactly it all started but what comes to mind is myself as a 7-year-old in Hattiesburg, MS. I had started my own business and had picked two girls to work with me. We used our recess time to sell various school supplies to our classmates. I can’t recall exactly how much money we made, but I do know one of the girls made just enough to buy the new Jewel CD, and looking back, that’s pretty impressive! After having such a booming and successful startup, you would think my road would just be a straight shot from there, but that’s far from the truth. I grew up as an Army brat so we moved around quite a bit until we landed in MO. From there, I studied Business Management and Photography at the University of Central Missouri (Go Mules!) and I’ve explored a ton of different career opportunities under the umbrella of management from retail management to even managing a Waffle House! 

After bouncing around for a few years, I found myself in the glamourous world of insurance for a nationwide brokerage. I’ve been very lucky to have lots of opportunities in insurance ranging from being a corporate recruiter, a sales agent, a training and process adherence coordinator, and even moving to Des Moines, IA to open a new branch. From all the of the experiences, I gained the confidence to say to myself, “I can do this. Why not bet on me?”. From there I moved back to the Kansas City Metro and opened my own insurance agency! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Hah! I don’t think any entrepreneur can say it’s been a smooth, seamless road with a straight face! Like all small businesses right now, staffing is one of the biggest pain points as there are more jobs available than people. I’ve always been the type to believe you gotta go big or go home so naturally, I decided to start my business during the middle of a global pandemic. This will just be a great part of the story I can share once the world “goes back to normal”! 

As you know, we’re big fans of Jaclyn Green Agency. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Most people may picture a super salesy, middle-aged man wearing a sharp suit when they think of an insurance agent and that can be pretty intimidating for some! What sets me apart from others is that I will talk to you just like you’re one of my friends. I’m not going to use insurance jargon and big fancy words when going over your coverage with you. I pride myself in having a natural conversation with folks and breaking everything down Barney style because I know you work too hard to not know what exactly you’re paying for!
