Community Highlights: Meet Meghan Sisco of Hazel Skull Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Sisco.

Hi Meghan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I have always dreamed of owning a boutique since I was a little girl. I originally took the plunge and started my own personal blog on Instagram back in 2018 where I could showcase and share my passion for affordable fashion. After two years of dedication and consistency, I knew owning a boutique was still my ultimate dream and goal. In November of 2020, myself and our 1-year-old German Shepherd picked up and moved halfway across the country to our new home in Manhattan, KS to reunite with my husband, an active duty combat medic in the Army.

A few months after our move I had approached my husband with the idea of launching an online-based boutique. Knowing this would be a huge investment of our money and time I wanted to discuss the pros and cons of such a huge, life-altering decision such as this one. My husband immediately thought it was an amazing idea and he could not have been more supportive. In the next few months, I registered my business with the state of Kansas and the IRS, and then the fun began of website building and shopping for the store! On May 1st of 2020, Hazel Skull Boutique was born and I got to see my vision and life goal come to life!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Although the road was bumpy at times, I could not be luckier to be pursuing my ultimate dream of being a business owner. This process was self-taught, loaded with constant research on what the steps were, how to be successful, and most importantly how in the world to build my own website from the ground up. I have learned so much throughout this process, and continue to learn more and more each and every day.

Launching any business is not for the faint of heart, but the outcome has been better than expected and I consider myself incredibly lucky. We have had the pleasure of having very supportive friends, family, and an extremely loyal customer base which we could not be more thankful for. Hazel Skull Boutique’s customers are the reason that I am able to continue to live my dream and pursue my passion day in and day out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hazel Skull Boutique?
Hazel Skull Boutique is military spouse owned and one of our greatest gifts thus far has been being able to give back. Although I have only been a military spouse for a short period of time, our fellow military families have become an extremely important part of our lives, and seeing the sacrifices that our service members and their families make each day has inspired me to do more. After the loss of our 13 service members in Kabul, we donated a portion of our proceeds to Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled service members. My main mission when I launched my boutique was to give back whenever I could. I feel so proud and grateful to be able to do what I do and I want to be able to show my appreciation whenever possible.

Our boutique carries a variety of women’s clothing and shoes at affordable prices. In the fashion industry, we are used to tall, slender models and I wanted to be able to provide fashion for the everyday female. As a petite female with curves, it is extremely important for girls to know that whether you are tall and slim, short and curvy and everything in between that you can and should feel beautiful in anything you wear!

One of our main priorities at Hazel Skull Boutique is fast shipping and a positive customer service experience! We always try to ship out our orders within one business day because as an avid online shopper myself, once I purchase clothes I cannot wait to get them and our customers shouldn’t have to either!

When you shop Hazel Skull Boutique, you shop small and are supporting a military spouse, a wife, and a family. Our customers are our main priority and the reason that I am able to continue doing what I love, while still giving back!
